FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Can I get a tour? Mary’s Menagerie, PLLC does not allow customers to go beyond the lobby into our kennel area for liability and safety reasons. We work hard on keeping our guests happy, safe and stress free. Strangers walking through the facility disrupts all guests and the flow of our day-to-day routine.

Q. What do you use in yards for fleas/ticks? We use Pure Natural Pest Control Company who uses an animal safe product about every 3 months.

Q. What flavor of house kibble do you use? We use chicken and rice or a Salmon and potato.

Q. Can I not pick my dog up outside of business/ office hours? No, we don’t allow any guests to come in or out, outside of lobby hours due to the safety of the guests and our staff.

Q. Can I bring my dog if it isn’t spayed or neutered? We allow up to a year old for your pet to be spayed or neutered so if they are less than a year old, we will allow them to come. After that they must be fixed to bring for daycare or boarding. If a female goes into heat while boarding, they will need to be picked up within 24 hours after Mary’s Menagerie, PLLC has contacted you.

Q. Can I just pay later but go ahead and pick up my pet? No, all invoice balances must be paid at drop off.

Q. Can I bring my pets bowls? We ask that you only bring bowls if they are specialty bowls. Otherwise, we provide stainless steel bowls for food and water and sanitize them after each feeding.

Q. Do I need to mark my pets’ belongings? Yes, we recommend marking all items coming into the building. If we notice it is not marked, we will mark it for you. This helps us keep track of items in case they need to be washed while they are here and can go back to the proper household. If it is something special or expensive, I recommend not bringing it because things still can get damaged or misplaced by accident.

Q. Can I book my dog or cat an appointment? If you are a current client, please make sure all pet(s) shot records are up to date and we have a current copy. We are now taking appointments by our request page on our website or owner portal link. We do prefer that’s how they are made. It gives us a paper trail and allows you to be able to request at any time. If you are needing an appointment for tomorrow, then please try to get your request in by 4:30pm the day prior so we can check for availability.

Q. Does my cat do an eval? Yes, just like the dogs we want to make sure we are able to handle them with care and ease, so they can enjoy their stay and get loved on just as much as any other furry guest. If at any time we feel like it’s not a good fit, we will let you know and possibly decline future boarding.

Q. When can my puppy start coming for boarding or daycare? We don’t take puppies until all their shots are done. So typically, it is around 16 weeks old after their rabies is complete and all boosters are completed by their veterinarian.

Q. What size room will my dog be in? We put the appropriate size dog in the appropriate size room and hallway. That is why we charge per dog and not per room size.

Q. If all my dogs share a room or my family pets share a room do I get a discount? No, it does take the same amount of time and care for each animal, so we charge per pet per night.

Q. Do you take off dog training collars and harnesses while they are there? Yes! We remove all shock, prong, pinch, chain or harnesses while your pet is here. We don’t want any of them getting caught up or hurt. We allow nylon or leather collars to stay on. If you are wanting your dog “naked” then you must request that at drop off each time.

Q. Do you give medications or shots to all guests that need it while at your facility?
Yes, we can give anything the pet may need. We ask that all medications are either in their appropriate bottle or clearly labeled and staff knows what each one is in case we need to know for ER reasons. We can give medications any time during kennel staff hours (6:45 am-9 pm daily).

Q. My dog doesn’t like other dogs, can you accommodate that? Yes, we can but they must still pass our evaluation prior to any boarding or solo play days. We do not take any aggressiveness towards humans or fence fighting dogs.

Q. Are there any breeds you don’t take? No, we don’t breed discriminate but all dogs must pass our evaluation prior to boarding or daycare.

Q. How often do the dogs get to go out? Boarding dogs are typically let out every 3-4 hours unless puppies, elderly or medically necessary for more frequent outings. Daycare dogs are rotated constantly throughout the day and will have a down time of about 15 minutes per hour so they can decompress and get to their own water bowl. Dogs do get a nap time between 1-2pm daily.

Q. How often do you feed? We typically feed twice a day. Between 7:30am-8:30am and dinner is 4:30pm -5:30pm. We can always accommodate for different feeding times during staffing hours if needed. Please just make sure we know.

Q. Do you do any grooming at your facility? At this point we do not. We do give baths upon request, and they start at $30.

Q. Do you have cameras set up for clients to view their dogs? We do not offer live client cameras. For the safety and privacy of our guests, only the Facility Manager and Owner have access to our security system.

Q. How many attendants are watching the dogs? What is the ratio? We typically have 3–5 attendants on staff at a time, depending on the number of guests in the facility. Each attendant is assigned a section with a set group of rooms. Most rooms house only one dog, though families who prefer their dogs to share a room are welcome to do so. Our staff-to-dog ratio averages about 1:20, ensuring every guest gets attentive care.

Q. Are dogs separated by size or temperament? Yes. We place like-sized dogs down the same hallway and carefully match dogs by temperament and energy level for yard time. Unlike facilities that group all dogs together, we tailor playgroups to ensure safety and comfort. If a good match isn’t available, dogs are given one-on-one yard time instead. Our priority is for every dog to feel safe and happy.

Q. Is there supervision overnight? Each guest sleeps in their own secure room overnight. While we do not have an overnight attendant on site, the Owner lives on the property—just about 100 yards behind the facility—and is alerted by our security system if anything unusual occurs after kennel hours.

Q. Can I get updates on my pet while they are there? Yes, you are absolutely more than welcome to call or email while your baby is with us. The phone will be answered during office hours & emails monitored up to 8:00pm sometimes later.

Q. If I forgot something when picking up my pet can I still come back and get it? Yes, we do have a lost and found for items that didn’t get picked up at departure time. We keep items up to 90 days unless it is something that will spoil.

Q. Do I get to see pictures of my pet while they are staying? Yes, we funnel all our photos to our personal Facebook Page. We will have an add-on soon (if not already) to be able to get individual and personal updates of your baby daily if you choose.
